Default A-C tractor ID question.

Where would I look to find a builders plate, serial number, or model number? There's one in my grandfather's barn which was backed in a couple or three decades ago and parked.

I was able to talk my wife into letting me bring home the New Sattley, but I'm not going to ask about this...

Many thanks.

Hello Rex

If it just shows up in your drive way, what can she say ????

I would try it.

There's a lot of things she could say, most of them bad. Even her uncle, who has dropped many kilobucks into a woody restoration is shying away. What the homeowners assoc. would say is another question. And questions we already know the answer to, don't need to be asked.

Besides, the plan right now is to try to find a place to live (the average price in Santa Cruz right now is 728k). After that I can have my workspace. Then the New Sattley gets running and the next project will be the 1961 Metropolitan in my mom's garage.

I believe that on the WC Allis Chalmers tractor there is a flat boss on the back of the rear end housing that should have numbers on that will indicate man. date and serial numbers. Good luck "bringin' er home" !! Been there done that! Wasn't real purty I might as well tell ya!! Jim Hunter
