The 16-30 is the model H. There is a serial number break about 1920 and some early tractors can have Higher numbers than the later ones... To further add to the cornfusion....
Don't know if the 14-28 was ever called the H or not....?http://www.smokstak.com/gallery/files/3/7/rumely_h.jpg

The Rumely 14-28 and 16-30 are both designated Model H. The 14-28 has ignitors and the 16-30 has spark plugs.
As Ken said, many 14-28's were apparently converted in the field to spark plugged tractors. The are many factory transition spark plugged 16-30's with 14-28 parts on them. The only difference being the plugs. Many early production 16-30's had the 14-28 square fuel tank, center shift transmission, 14-28 bull gears, wider drive wheels, flywheel without starting handle dogs and so on. I have a friend with a factory tagged 16-30 that is identical to a 14-28 less ignitors. The single cylinder 15-30 and later re-rated 18-35 are designated F. I hope this helps. -Mark Thompson |
