Default 2 1/4 hp Galloway serial # 3164

Hello, Just dragged home my first small engine a 2 1/4 hp Galloway. Dirty and kinda crusty...was going to blast and repaint, as I thought some wise guy painted it an awfull pink...............Fortunatly my buddy Tom, advised me that the original paint was just fading and oil will bring it out! (it did) So NO paint job. I believe that it is a fairly early example....or at least PRE 1915....serial #3164, is it possible to confirm build date? Will post a pic once a little more cleaned up. Maybe interested in a head for this one if someone has one

Sounds like a great engine Eric! Look forward to seeing a picture! I am curious if on the end of the flywheel shaft, pulley end, do the letters AC appear? I have a 2 1/4 with a very close serial # to yours with those letters.

According to John Cullom's Galloway list, it is the ignitor type and it was made before Nov. 1912. You might want to contact him on the web.
