Default Staker meeting at the Belltown Show in Connecticut Sunday

Well folks it is that time of year again - dust off your iron or bring out your new restoration for the show in East Hampton. Who will we have for stakers this year? Last year I was able to put some faces with names so hopefully I can do the same this year.

Forecast is cloudy and cool with 30% chance of rain but that will probably change by the weekend. So long as it's not pouring I'll be there under my canopy staying nice and dry.

Cheers! NICK

Can someont post directions to the Belltown show - from NJ-NY border @RT I-287? I was to that show many years ago, bought a Caille marine engine there, and still have it! Thanks in advance,

I just tried mapquest, I believe the show is in East Hampton Ct on Rt16. Looks easy to find. If you are looking to buy something, I think folks setup saturday evening.

My wife just asked me last night if I'd like to spend this Sunday at Mohegan Sun ______ too visit with her sisters. Yea! Would I ever. I am going to drop her off and head out Rt2 west and catch my first show of the season. No $$$ , just Boots and umbrella.

287 to Rte 84 East. Stay on 84 through beautiful Waterbury and towards Southington. Just past Waterbury take 691 towards Meriden-Middletown. Stay on this road even though the highway itself ends. This will be Rte 66. STAY ON 66 through Middletown (do NOT go onto Rte 9) over the bridge over the Connecticut River, into Portland. This is a little convuluted. STAY ON 66. This will be a right after the bridge. After Cobalt look out for Rte16. This will have a traffic light and be a right hand turn. Belltown is in a park on the right. (10miles?) There will be a covered bridge on the left just before the park.

I tell you---I sure feel sorry for anybody that paid 2.11/gallon to drive all the way from NY! I arrived around 9am, the rain had stopped, the sun was out and so were swarms of black flies. ok. I can handle the flies, even if I do prefer the rain. But -- WHERE WAS THE SHOW???

I saw just open field? Row after row, empty...I hung in until 1pm before I headed back to the ______. Really, lets tell it like it was. I think there was maybe 4 engines running. I dont mind, I had to be in Ct that day anyway, but man, I talked to one friend from Mass, who looked a little bummed. Not to mention, lonely. He was grumpling about gas prices, which is what makes me wonder about the guy from NJ looking for a marine engine. I did not see one marine engine, for sale or show. Zero.

Did I miss something? I'd say its time for the organizers to consider some changes. I went to this show a few years ago and it rained that day, but I still saw a good show.

What happened this Sunday was a NO SHOW ?!?!?!

I know the rain kept me from going. Usually, you have to get there early and stake your claim in order to get much of a place to even park. The field on a sunny show day is wall to wall iron with many engines running.

Default Why dont they have rain dates?

I look forward to going to this show each year. I didnt this time because it was still raining well after midnite and I knew it would turn people away so I stayed home also. The problem is these shows have no rain date in case this happens. What happens to all the buttons, plaques, and food that money was spent on? Seems like a big waste of time not to have a rain date after all the trouble getting ready for these things in the first place. John.
