Question Ignitor Gap?

Are the points on an ignitor normally open or closed? What is the spacing if they are open?

I have made a shaft for a Fairbanks T, 4 hp., and I forgot where I need to drill the hole on the shaft.

Thanks.

Hi Larry,

Depends if it's mag or battery and coil. If it's mag the points are closed till tripped open. If you using a battery and coil the points are open till pushed closed for a moment before being released to open to make the spark.

I have read that 1/16 inch is recommended for points gap on an igniter.
