Photo Just Finished 118 FBM

I thought I'd share a couple photo's of my Fairbanks Morse 118 engine. This past winter, new rings, valve guides, valve job and lots of cleaning getting it ready for paint. All the parts were put in the carb so it will run on gasoline. The engine was a gift from Miller Bit Service. Just having fun in Southern Illinois. Gary

Nice Job on your 118. I like the Clutch setup. I have a 208 waiting for my time and energy. I think you just gave me the push I needed. Good Job & Good Work !

Dennis; The serial number on my 118 FBM is K505831. I thought I had a page book marked that had the year by numbers but I can't find it. This engine runs like new now. Had I not ask the owner about it most likley it would have been sold as scrap. It was missing a few parts, thanks to Jim White he found the carb, cooling parts and rocker arm. To my engine show partner Jim Baue for help with rebuilding the head, new valve guides, valve seats, reseating the new valves. Even though many of these engines still work in the oilfields today for the cost of a set of rings and a little time I had to fix it. Thank's just having fun in Southern,Illinois Gary

I just bought a complete 118. The block, head, crankcase cover , and flywheels look to have dates cast in them from different months in 1956. This engine appears to be an original assembly of parts. The serial # is K 518137. The tag is aluminum, and has no individual number on it. I suppose this engine was built in 1957 or there-abouts. It sure is a sweet running engine. I haven't had any luck finding a pump diaphragm for the carburetor around here.
