Default Old Manure Spreader, new toy today.

Just could not see this get tore up for the wheels to make flower pot hangers. So it came to my place.
Now, what is it? I think it is a john deere say around 1923? horse drawn manure spreader. Sides are wood, every thing is there and loose except the seat is gone and the foot rest is plywood now.
Any votes?
thanks and thanks harry!

You got my vote. Now you can paint it, put it in the front yard and have you a flower wagon.

Looks like a manure spreader to me How bad does it smell? Several years ago, a friend had one in his front yard as an ornamental display. Somebody stole it! It has never been recovered.

Hate to say but I don't think it's a John Deere. I have 4 of them and they don't quite look like this. Was thinking McCormick-Deering until I looked it up in Wendel's IH book. Doesn't look like Oliver either. Maybe Minneapolis-Moline? Look closely at the castings, maybe you can see a trademark. Either way, a very nice looking piece of equipment. Some Amish man would love to have it.

Saw one at an auction one time, the auctioneer identified it as a
politicians wagon . Some days it seems quite fitting !LOL

I have heard many times that the Amish will buy this sort of equipment, and pay good money, too. I had one guy claim he sold a mint horse drawn John Deere manure spreader for $1500. He could have been pulling my leg, for all I know.

Are you sure it isn't a New Idea. Sure looks familiar like one that I wouldn't stand behind. Quite often NI would have a little brass ID plate. Any how, I'm glad to see you didn't let it go for scrap. I did a number of years ago, a Walter W. Wood. Oh well it is not the only mistake I've made in over 75 years and I hope it's not the last. Dick in the still cool Finger Lake Region of NY.
