Default Oil recycling & bypass filters

Reading some comments in the Arcs & Sparks forum about running diesels on waste motor oil etc. reminds me to ask if anyone is using the Frantz or Motor Guard toilet paper filters on their old engines, or to clean used oil for diesel fuel?

Any comments or experiences with these filters would be useful. Seems like a good idea, they claim sub-micron filtration and toilet paper is cheap enough.
