Default Headless Witte info needed

I aquired a 6hp Headless Witte this weekend but need some close up pics or detailed info of the ignition setup as well as the fuel tank and lines. I have parts of the ignition still on this engine but feel that some of it is homemade and would like to see the original parts. I could also use some explanation as to the wireing. This was a mag equiped engine but I am going to set it up to run with battery and coil as I don't have a good mag. I would appreciate any and all info you can give. Thanks

Go to the link below. There you will find some pics of my 6hp headless Witte. I don't have any pics of the ignition, but there are some of the gas tank and plumbing.

Well here's one with a Bosch BAO mag.

And here's another with the Webster mag.

And here's yet another with battery ignition.

For battery ignition you will need the spark lever. I can get more pics in the morning if no else posts something.

Cheers NICK

I just got my 6hp Witte running this past weekend after having it about 4 years and never doing anything with it. I planned on selling it at swap meet on Friday. I monkied with it on and off throughout the day and by the end of the day it was running. It ran so well I ended up removing the price and decided to keep it. It is missing the brass tag off the hopper. Does anybody know if the serial number is stamped somewhere else on the engine?

David, If you look at the picture that Bill Decker scanned, the right hand side has two pictures that shows the spark lever that you will need to run it off buzz coil and battery. If you don't have this part, you could still probably rig some type of wiper/timer that would work.

On Headless and "B" models, Witte stamped the serial number on the end of the crankshaft and on the outer rim of both flywheels. This makes it very easy to detect if the engine has the original crank and flywheels. Sometimes it is hard to read the serial numbers on the flywheels if they are heavily rusted or pitted.

Nick, do you still own that Headless Witte with the High Tension Webster magneto???
