Default New to forum lots of questions cushman and IH

Hello Everyone,
I am new to the forum but have been reading for a while. I just got my first engines.....yep the bug bit me I have a cushman model "R 14" engine number A97886 I would like to know when the engine was built and the correct color it should be it is now green. The little engine runs nice and starts easy. It needs the hopper antisplash replaced and I thought I would clean and paint the complete engine when I replaced it. The only thing it needs other then the anti splash is a spring to return the crank handle back into the flywheel.

The other engine is a McCormick Deering model "M" serial number W10479 (the best I could read) I would also like to know the year and correct color for this engine. The engine runs well but is missing the entire mag system (mag and trip arm assembly) It is riged to run with a buzz coil. I would like to find the mag system so if anyone has one let me know.

Thanks for any and all help on the two engines. I am going to order the manuals for them today.

If there are any other engine guys in western oklahoma let me know.

Dave: Unless it was a Cub Model R made by Cushman for the Bean Sprayer Co., San Jose, CA, the Massey-Harris Company of Canada or Sears & Roebuck, Chicago, Ill. (the ID tag will indicate this), the color would be a medium-dark gray: Ditzler #32565 gray. I've had it cross-matched in DuPont Dulux and others at NAPA, auto-body stores, etc. Jim

For the serial # you have to know what size it's. The 1˝ hp could have AW10479, the 3 hp BW10479 and the 6 hp CW10479.
The first letter is printed on the tag and the W is stamped.

For a paint color you can use Adirondack Green 84155 or DITT GROSS 40496, Hunter Green from Rustoleum would be a good match too.

BTW, welcome aboard

Glad you found Some. If the M is a 1.5hp it's a 1925, 3hp it's 1926, 6hp is 1927. I used Krylon 2001 Hunter Green on mine.

I enjoyed talking to you at Pawnee and then on the phone.

Have fun,
