Default New play toy!

This 4000#+ critter just had to follow me home Thursday . Granted it's not an old engine but I bet it helps bring a few back to life. Paid $700 for it. After 2 nights of some major TLC and borrowing a tool post I turned my first shaft last night. Works perfectly .

I got one of those. I think, is that an 18.5 inch Monarch? Man, I tell you after running a lathe like that you never be able to go back to one of those cutsie little bench top logans or south bends. Cam lock chucks and ball bearing spindle? I bought mine from a scrap dealer. i saw it on a truck at a sub shop on lunch break and I followed the driver back to the scrap yard. They took her off real gently and held it for me to come back with a trailer the next day. I tell you , you cannot buy a machine like that from china, never, ever, not close. Not for 10 times the money.

I've seen a couple of good lathe deals on e-bay over the last few years, but by the time you figure shipping the bargain has gone out the window....Good finds you guys !!!!!!!!!!!!
