Angry Need help on Kohler 2.5CMZ21-RV generator

Hello, I just bought a 1987 Toyota Sun Land Express motorhome with Kohler 2.5CMZ21-RV generator. I could not start this generator's engine. When I sprayed some Starter fluid, I started the engine but unless I keep spraying the starter fluid, it will stop running. Does anyone have any ideas? Does this engine have a fuel shutoff valve? Anyone has a user manual? Thanks. Bing

How long since the generator was last run? Could be the gas is too stale if it hasn't been run for a year or more. Carburetor could be gummed up from stale gas or sediment. Would recommend cleaning the carb and using fresh gas. Shut off valve is usually just below the fuel tank. If you pull the fuel line off at the carb, you should get gas flowing out the line with fuel in the tank.

with RV generators, there is usaually a 12 volt fuel pump and a 12 volt fuel valve right before the fuel pump..

the gas pickup tube for the generator is seperate from the one for the chassis engine, and sets higher in the tank,

if the gas tank is low the generator will not be able to get any fuel..

this pickup is usually set around the 1/4 full level of the vehicle gas tank

some time a little higer / lower depending on the indiviual tank and RV maker

fill your gas tank, un hook the fuel line between the genset carb and the pump

jumper 12 volts to the fuel pump and ( valve if needed ) and see if it is pumping gas..

next clean the carb with some carb spray

Thanks,

I think it is the fuel pump problem. I removed the carburetor and disconnected the fuel line, and when I cranked the generator, there is no fuel coming out, even a drop. It is hard to reach the fuel pump but I will get to it. anyway where I can buy a new fuel pump?
