Now, we've seen who posts the most images, would it be appropriate to rank donors to the site as well? I hope no one is offended by the idea, but there's nothing like a little competition and it doesn't need to be offensive if presented the right way.

Comments gentlemen? (and Ladies if present )

Suffice it to say that it's the quiet ones that support us the most. As far as the ones who posted the most images, they owe us nothing because they have carried their full share.

Really, every time this gets started, we lose in the long run. The only ranking that we'll be showing is Sponsor / Subscriber / Registered.

With the amount of work and time that Harry spends on this site he could publish a Magazine.

Thankfully that's not his desire and don't even think about it Harry.

But I do think that if users thought about the reletive value of not only the information, advise, pictures, laughs, and venting forum available here but also the comraderie and friendships that are fostered here they would realise that they can't get those as easily with any Magazine.

I am not canceling My subscription to Gas Engine Magazine but I can get on the Stak anytime and I only get Gas Engine once a Month and usually read it in a couple of visits to the small reading room.

Harry you seem reluctant to ask for a certain voluntary subscription fee and I appreciate your reluctance to do so but scripture says "A workman is worthy of his hire".

If Harry was a hireling he would have walked away a long time ago because this job dosn't pay at all. Our donations (subscriptions) probably don't even pay for the expenses of the servers and hosting software let alone the development of the site. If there were something left over for Harry that would be great but I doubt that thatwill ever happen.

I will ask for Harry, lets all pay for this Interactive Electronic Magazine just like we do for any other Magazine we subscribe to and if we can donate a little extra for those who can't afford to lets "go the extra mile".

Thanks for listening to my plea for Harry and please respond if you can.

No I have never met Harry or even talked to him but he certainly is my friend and a generous one at that.

And no I'm not trying to kiss up to him either.

Dick

This comment in regard to Dick Weltys post---------Dick, very well put ! !

I am, I guess you would say one of the more silent participants on Harry's site, very seldom miss a day without checking in. There would be quite a void in my engine hobby life if this site were to become non-existent.

Just a friendly suggestion------I think there are 2114 users of this treasure, that should take the time to re-read Dick's post.

Thank you Harry, and thank you to all the very knowledeable posters who have provided the pictures presented here, along with the sharing of information that is invaluable.

I also like magazines, but have yet to find one that comes on a daily basis.

Well...now I'm gonna jump in here.....
Not TOO long ago I "suggested" that Harry be a little more "in your face" about the support thing (Several times, actually).
Put the PAYPAL or SUPPORT thingys prominently on the pages so we don't have to hunt for them.
Harry's response to me was "I guess I'm not an in your face kind of guy".
I am aware of some the COSTS involved with this site (which are completely exhorbitant ) and, believe me, it costs a FORTUNE to run this thing not ONLY FINANCIALLY but a HUGE personal investment of TIME.
Be a sport.....if you are going USE this site....PLEASE SUPPORT IT.
ANY magazine subscription is gonna cost you at LEAST $30 a year.
Where else on the internet can you get answers, webspace for photos and SELL as quickly as you can HERE?

The first time I donated (a year or so ago) Harry mailed me a "Smokstak" button. I've worn it to every show since and it never fails to get a comment.

I know I've frittered away a lot more on a lot less so I think I'll go remind Harry I appreciate what he's doing for the hobby.

Thank you Mr. Matthews

As though I didn't Blow enough Smoke, Shoot enough Flames or Enhaust enough Gas before on this thread. Seems like I saw those words at the top of this forum. But I want to add one or two more things.

What Magazine can you be guaranteed that your contribution will be published. Let alone answered or responded to in a day or two with really good and helpfull information.

This forum gets very simple questions from new collectors and very complex questions from longtime collectors and they are all answered in a manner that shows that we care and respect others no matter where they are in their learning curve.

No one cares if our spelling or grammer is correct and we often share our stupid mistakes and laugh at our selves and don't get offended if others good heartedly laugh with us.

Seldom is heard a discouraging word. Where did I hear that phrase before? And the skys are not cloudy all day. Now I am getting sentimental.

But the truth is that I have had a lot of laughs and made a lot of friends in the last year or so that I have been on the Stak.

Besides all of this I have been out to dinner with some who have left a bigger tip, for mediocre service from someone that could care less, than the price of a subscription to this Electronic Magazine.

And Harry you should not be shy about including all of this thread on the other forums on this site.

You guys and girls are my Brothers and Sisters in this old Iron world.

Dick
