Default What is a L Mag with 36 tooth gear for ??

The mag is a IH L mag with a 36 tooth gear.Is this for a 3 HP M and 6 hp M.Thanks Dale

My parts catalog shows the International Type "L" magneto will fit the 1 1/2 HP kerosene model M for years 1917-1923 and the 3 HP kerosene model M for years 1918-1924. Doesn't mention the number of teeth on the drive gear but I would suspect it would be for the 3 HP model. Believe the 6 HP model M kerosene engines used the type "R" magneto, years 1918-1924.

You're right Bill, the L with 36 teeth is for a 3 hp M. The 1˝ hp M has 30 teeth and the R for the 6 hp M has 30 teeth.
