Does anyone know what the fuel consumption of these units is? Being a 1.5 KW genset with a 3 hp engine it shouldn't be too bad, but most military gensets are known to be a bit more thirsty than consumer models.

At a relatively light load, a fridge and some lights, mine would run about 12 hours on 5 gal of gasoline. For what that is worth...

Hey there..I got one too, but live up in MN. Like it but don't need it, and would rather have someone "adopt" it that can give it more attention that I have.

I have two model MEP-015A. Given the problems with Things in the delta, Is there any way to install an aftermarket muffler to make these things more stealth with out compromis sing performance? Also for security can these be mounted in a basement with a snorkel so as to not grow feet a walk away? Yea, I have carbon monoxide detectors for any emmission leaks and if outside they will be locked down, but why advertise if you don't need too.

IMO, the risk of someone stealing a $300 generator is a lot easier to deal with than the risk of CO poisoning the family, or a gasoline fire in the basement. Leave it outside.

You'd have a lot more ventilation requirements than what you could handle with a snorkle. Cooling air for both the engine and the generator needs to be exchanged with outside air, it'll get real warm inside. A good hardened chain will keep it from wandering.
Be especially concerned with carbon monoxide, odorless, colorless and kills. Every time we have a storm and loose power folks poison themselves with CO, even with the generator out in a carport or garage so be careful and ensure sufficient ventilation.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think yet about the heat and need for the motor to breathe. How ever is their any way to quiet down this screaming banshee?

Aloha,
The only way that I know how to "quiet down this screaming banshee" is to put it into a soundproof enclosure. You would have to add an intake and also and exhaust fan to keep the engine temp. down and also reroute the exhaust out. It seems like a lot of work but it can be done.

Mahalo,
