Default ersatz upright Maytag

Do you think the guy selling the homespun "upright" Maytag knows what he is selling? How about the bidders??

Darn thing has nice shiny paint but my thinking is that it is a modified Model 72 twin. Doesn't say so anywhere in the listing that I noticed.

There is plenty of eye appeal but if it was me selling this item, I'd have to describe it differently to keep things "upright" in my scorecard. How-a-bout you? 7525019250

Question Re: ersatz upright Maytag

In my opinion,it is a novelty piece made from a twin maytag.Someone was quite creative, but this should not be confused with something Maytag original.
Also seems to have some runability issues.

Exclamation Re: ersatz upright Maytag

Larry Simpson, of Maytag Unlimited, used to make a upright conversion of the Maytag twins. He would take an engine with a bad cylender, and coil, and or maybe a bad crank journal, and make a 1 cylender engine, using a cast iron base by either B&S or REO, depending on availability. These conversions usually ran quite well. This may well be one of 'his' engines
