Kelly I got my book on choirmasters at a tractor show last year and it tells you just how to change the tire and other important things. I see you are from Indiana. If you can make to Portland Ind. in august they have the book there. if you cant make it let me know and I,ll send you the name of the man who sells them. good luck!!!! Ken

Ken,

I bought a manual on ebay last week. it just hasn't arrived yet. I'm just trying to get thing done pretty fast. My 4 year old has a birthday soon and I'd like to have it done in time. I did getit apart yesterday although I still haven't figured out how to get the bearings out safely. I know it will require new ones. I was just hoping to take them to match up or find someone that new what size bearings it took.

As far as Portland goes, that is one that is worth the trip altrhough it coincides with a local car show every year on the same weekend. I've made it to Portland a few times in the past but don't see it happening to much in the future.

Thanks for the info!
Kelly

kelly. the choremaster garden tractors have a split rim. let all od the air out of the tire. before you take it apart. there are three center bolts. that take the rim apart. first remove the cover . plate. that says lodge and shipley on it. then take. the drive gear out. and on the axle. remove the half moon key and save the gasket. because these gaskets are. very hard to find if you do find one. take the. engine deck plate off. along with the motor. and remove the . belt pulley there are eight or nine allen bolts that hold the front of the frame together. four on the back plate. i have owned a few of the choremasters had them apart. restored several of them i have 2. now that are for sale in very good condition. hope this helps dave .

Kelly, you ought to be able to find a number on the old bearings that will help you.

David:

I am just beginning a Choremaster project with absolutely no information.

You sound like an experienced and knowledgable fan of these little creatures. Can you post some links/photos/etc for a beginner?

Mine has a small B&W engine. Of course the tire is rotted. The aluminum gearbox seems perfect cosmetically. It has a small plow and a very crude re-bar kickstand attached.

It will be a few days before I can post photos. Is there a way to tell age/model? I've contacted the folks with decals but there is a long row to hoe (HARHAR) before that point!!
