Coolspring has a 60 HP Blaisdell hit and miss compressor engine. It sounds like a cannon going off when it fires.

Hudson Valley OTPA , in Hudson NY, has a 40 HP Tandem cylender Diesel engine-compressor that was used to build the holland tunnel to NYC Makes beautiful smoke rings when it starts! There are many large engines at the Rough and Tumble Threshermans Museum and re-union - Kinzers PA

It is not hit and miss but throttle governed, but it is old and fairly large. I have the privilege and pleasure of working with a 1911 50 hp. Fairbanks Morse type RE still located in the power house it was originally installed in the mountains above Pasadena, California. Pictures and information at:

The 125 H.P. DELAVERNE engine at Rollag is a volume governed engine. It has a 26" bore with 9 foot flywheels. It is owned by Jim & Keven Withers. They also own a 100 H.P. WESTERN hit & miss engine that is on display up there too. I believe it is the largest hit & miss engine in existence today. Coolsprings will have a 175 h.p. OTTO there next year ( single clylinder.)

The 175 Otto is throttle governed but will probably be the largest single cylinder engine on display.

The Otto is more horse power but the De La Vergne has a much bigger bore and is a lot heavier than the Otto so it will still be the biggest single cylinder two flywheel engine running. Don was refering two the 100 h.p. charter we have at Rollag it is a true hit & miss by holding the exhuast valve open we also have a 100 h.p. Western that Don mentioned. We tried for many years to get the big Otto but Coolspring won out on that one. Will be nice to finnally see it run. Keven
