Talking The Fairbanks......It Makes noise!

well, guy's, my fairbanks goin......runs good! timing wasn't off like i thought it might be, this was last night when i got it goin, im running it off of the buzz coil, at first i thought it was out of time, but, guess not.
im sure we all are, or atleast SOME like me are anxious to get a engine, ECPECIALLY a fly wheeler goin for the first time in WHO KNOWS how many years, i anxiously hooked up the buzz coil, done, well, atleast temporarily done, just enough to start it and turned on the gas, and i thought, FINALLY, so i start cranking the wheel, crank crank crank crank crank crank crank crank,......nothing, by this time i thought,YEP! definitly out of time, BUUUT....knowing me, i tryed again, this time i held the intake open, and i cranked it again, crank crank crank crank crank POOF...i backed off, definitly out of time, BUT, once more i couldn't resist to try once more, SO.. i did,....crank crank POP crank crank crank POP POP pop pop pop pop pop pop, and off she went! ofcource i was happy, had a big grin on my face from ear to ear! then i shut it down, YYEEEAA! SHE RUNS! so i called it a night and needless to say i went to bed with a big grin! so today and tomorrow i have to do just little bitty very minor adjustments here and there, then i'll let'er run for a well deserved while, after all, wouldn't you wanna run a while if you had to set 50 years! well, just thought i'd let ya'll know, and again, for all the ones that have helped me, A BIG Thank you!! for the info and stuff, and i know a thank you probably dont mean much but, i have to say thank you Harry, for this very incredible engine site!
well, wait, there is one more question i have, what year is my fairbanks?
i got numbers off the top of the Hopper, 641447
only numbers i could find.
IM GUESSING, early 20's? am i right or no?

Thanks again!

Congrats Skylar!
I know the worn- out, bewildered feeling of wondering why it won't pop... needs more choke?, or it's already flooded?, needs advanced?, or needs retarded?, it's getting spark?, or not? it's got compression, but is it enough?... crank some more with your blistered hand, almost worn out now, sweat running in your eyes (why is this fun?)...and then it hits and runs!
Enjoy. Kevin

congrats on getting your engine running.
according to the serial # list I have, your engine is a 1925.
I know it's your first and it sounds like your hooked so there will be more.

Best of luck

My first hit & miss engine was a Stover KA 2 HP. It was found behind a gas station, a few towns away from where I live. I was so exited to get it, I lifted it out of the trunk of my car, all by myself , and put it on my moms picnic table (the engine mount of choice at home back then). After removing a grain of sand from the points on the WICO EK, I decided to fire the engine up. It did, and promptly did a circular dance on the table before I could hit the kill switch bitton on the mag . Needless to say, mom was not pleased (again) (see my post on the contenental engine for more picnic table escapades). Congrats on bringing another engine to life - are you going to post some pix for us to see of the finished product of your lobor (or was it fun?)?
