Default Help with IHC type O mag

I need some help with trouble shooting an IHC type O mag. The unit is clean, I have recharged the magnets, I have rebushed the trip end bearing, installed a new end cover with bearing. This is a very simple mag but I have no output. How can I check the continuity of the windings?

Contineuity can be checked with a simple Ohm meter... resistance should be quite low. These mags transfer energy with a spiral flat spring from the armature. I would look for a bad connection at the spring ends or from the spring to the terminals. If they have been rotated too far the spring is Toast... Are you sure one magnet isn't reversed cancelling the magnetism...???? Good Luck....

Is the lead out tower grounding out from bad insulation? How are you testing for current?is the ign. timed with the mag?Is it on a mogul SS,10M,or an 8-16 mogul tractor? There really isn't much to go wrong with these mags. The 1 on my 8 Mogul was outside probably 75 years and after a cleaning and recharging works fine.Rob
