Choremaster engine


Anybody seen a Kohler engine on a Choremaster or have I got a re-engined tractor? :eek: Frank

Default Choremaster engine

Anybody seen a Kohler engine on a Choremaster or have I got a re-engined tractor?

I think you may have a re-engineered Choremaster. As far as I know (which isn't very far!) the Choremaster came primarily with a Clinton engine although some may have had a Briggs.

The really fancy Choremasters had a Clinton engine with a mercury-filled centrifugal clutch.

Have a Choremaster which my Dad bought new in 1950; has a
Briggs & Stratton "N" engine which is original. Also has the centrifugal clutch.
You needed this if it had any of the engine-driven attachments such
as sickle bar or rotary mower, as the attachments didn't have
their own clutch. Others I've seen were factory-
equipped with Clinton engines. Have not seen an original with
a Kohler. They did have size options with Clinton--2 or 3 hp.,
as I recall.
