Default Need help with IHC Famous Tank Mounting

I just got a new thermosyphon cooling tank from John Wanat for my 1906 3hp IHC vertical famous. Very nice. I need to know how to tie the tank down. Exact size rod, number of rods and how the top ends looked. If someone could post a photo or send me an image of the tops, it would be very helpful.

I also wonder if it matters how the exhaust pipe and top water pipe are routed. I hate to guess wrong. I like the look of the muffler running direct up and higher than the tank top. And water pipes fudged around a little at a 45 to the engine and tank.

Thanks in advance,

Peter show a picture of your new tank, I'm afraid you're mixing up two different things.

The cooling tank is approx 18 inch by 52 tall and must be attached to the skid with long rods. I am asking rod diameter: 1/4 or 5/16, quantity: 3 or 4 and end treatment: bend over or little castings on the ends.

Second, from a purely cosmetic point (function I understnad) is there a certain way the two water pipes must be run to the engine? Right now the water line from the head has to sneak around the exhaust pipe.

I have never seen an original vert. engine with thermosyphon cooling, even a picture or image. So I can't tell you that. In all my books, no image of that.
The only part # I can find are the flanges for the tank, round flanges rivetted to the tank and good for ˝ " pipe.

For thermosyphon cooling the water level in the tank, always has to be above the head level. I think you have to find someone that has an original setup.

The book 150 years of IHC by C Wendell on page 111 shows a vertical pump engine with the tank you have. Even shows the piping you are asking for. I know Rob has one he was working on.
