Question IHC Famous/Titan

A friend of mine has a 2 1/2 H.P. IHC engine. It looks like a Famous except I was told that they had International Harvester embossed on the side of the hopper. This engine does not. Some one put the tag on the top of the hopper instead of the base. The tag definetly says Famous and the mixer and linkages look to be Famous. So if the only difference is the embossing did maybe they put this engine together from a couple different engines? ? At the same show I seen a throttled goverend Famous in a 4 h.p. and it looked exactly like my Titan except for the embossed letters on the hopper. Any info would be helpful. The reason I asked is I have had several people tell me that was the only way to tell the difference.

The parts book says;
All engines designated by the name "Titan" from May 1, 1914.

Sometime in the 1912 -1914 period they stopped casting International Harvester in the hoppers.I have never seen 1 with the tag on top.Maybe someone at the factory or elsewhere liked it better on the top. Are there holes in the base where it might have been?Rob

I,m still not certain, but still confused. Is it a hit and miss Titan or a Famous without the embossed INTRENATIONAL HARVESTER on the side? The new pop rivets on the tag means it was recently attached and I'm sure it was installed in the wrong place. It also had 1912 written on the hopper with a black marker. After looking the serial # up it says it's a 1914. Any more info would be appreciated. Also thanks to John and Rob for your response. Fred
