Default Waukesha Engine ?'s

This little baby is in the path of development and I would like to save it but it is a bit out of my main interest. Didn't know that old engines came with spare cylinders. It is a 4-cylinder job with overhead valves. I assume it is gas but could not see other side of engine to verify. There is no generator attached but considering it is in farm land that is well-irrigated I would assume it spent it's life pumping water. Any feedback on this enigine would be appreciated.

Looks like a Diesel by the manifold, like the model used in a 550 Oliver tractor. Kevin
