I, along with my lovely wife spent the weekend at Mountain, N.D. In addition to visiting with her cousin who resides there.
"The Deuce" is a reference for the second day of August, which is Icelandic Independance Day. The community of Mountain is predominently Icelandic descendants, so a full day of festivities commences in honor of the occasion. You can google "The Deuce of August" to gain access to the website.
There always is a parade on Saturday morning. More than the parade itself, I enjoy touring the staging area at the north end of town. Here, among the classic automobiles and a few old tractors, I found a contraption.
Driven by a 4 hp model AB Wisconsin engine was a three-wheeled contraption propelled by a propellor! Just like the airboats you find in the waters of Louisianna, only on wheels. It's a homebuilt wonder, but I found it very interesting, nonetheless.
I've got pics and will post when I get them developed.
