To help yourself, inform what type of engine, i.e. type of cycle and number of cylinder, etc, and get all numbers and names from around the base of the magneto. This would help to identify the magneto make and type. (Of course someone may be able to tell you without this info, too.)

The mag looks to be missing, amongst other things, anywhere from two to six magnets and their fasteners, and probably a housing piece or two, distributor parts perhaps, and what all else....

Hard to tell, but I wouldn't expect to see a what looks to be a point set and two wires located where most mags would have other stuff sealed within.

I wonder if the mag's use was reduced to a timer for a coil box??

Names and numbers would expedite !! Perhaps you have a common magneto or one that could be completed from another magneto, if it turns out that your's has some unique features but shares parts with common mags.
