Default FM Dishpan-rockerarm removal

I recently bought a new rockerarm spring to replace the current broken one. I have not figured out how to remove the rockerarm. The bracket which it is mounted on is easily removed from the head but to remove the fulcrum ??from the bracket is my problem. I have removed the nut, now how to get the bolt or whatever it is called out?? Thanks

Charles,

Are you refering to the exhaust valve spring? If so, there should not be a need to remove the rocker arm to replace the valve spring. You should have enough clearance to replace the spring with the rocker left on. I changed both the intake and exhaust valve springs not long ago on my dishpan without removing any but the "keepers" on the valve stem.

Charles the pivot pin is tapered slightly and can be a booger to get out. Must go out opposite the threads. A little heat should do the job. Good luck. Dan

Dan ,
Thanks for the reply. Do you drive it out from the top?? I do not understand the purpose of the nut on the bottom. Removing this did nothing. Thanks again

I have the same problem with the rockerarm! Where did you find the spring.

Maybe this image will help a little. It is not exactly true or perfect, but shows the condition Dan was trying to explain.

Remove the nut and tap it back the direction of the arrow (with a little heat). That will loosen up the taper on the other end.

Actually I loosen the not about 1/2 way off and tap on the nut instead of the threads.

Thanks to all,

Thanks for all your advice. To Vince, spring was purchased from Hit N Miss enterprises.
