Default smallest water cooled hit and miss engine?

Just curious guys. I was wondering what was the smallest water cooled hit and miss engine made? (not counting scaled down models) The smallest engine I own is a 1 1/2 horse sattley. I know they made small air cooled engines but was curious about the water cooled models.

I noticed in Wendel's book before that there was a 1/2 H.P. engine and I think even a 1/4, but I cant remember the make of it now. Also to consider, the Lenoir engine was 1/2 H.P. but it is not necessarily a small engine. I think it has a 4 foot flywheel

to me the 1/2 hp New Holland seems like the smallest water cooled engine ? ir maybe a little wonder made by the chicago flexable shaft co is the smallest if you count just the engine and not the whole sheap shear.

That is so cool! What sort of engine is that? I still find it kinda strange that New Holland made a 1/2 horsepower engine just like a scaled down version of their big ones. Even the maytags were 3/4 to 7/8 hp. Half a horsepower just isn't much at all.

I have a 1/4 HP Carlisle & Finch tank cooled and a 1/2 HP Globe tank cooled and a J.D. Wallace 1/2 HP (?) tank cooled. The Sieverkropps were around 1 HP. Almost forgot about my 3/4 HP 2 cycle verticle hopper cooled Empire Novelty engine.

Well, i guess that's too bad for me that they're so rare (DANG)! Why is it i like the weird stuff? I'd really like an Aermotor and possibly a small IH famous, a Stover T, and engines like that with lots of exposed moving parts or unusual designs. Oh yeah, the Edwards 2 cylinder engine should be on that list, too. You're right, that's one tiny engine! I wouldn't mind having a New Holland, either, but not at the prices they command. Oh well. Guess i'll just keep working on my Taylor Vacuum and then switch to the Alamo later on down the road.

Not the smallest water cooled engine , but I believe the IHC Titan Jr. is the smallest that IHC made. Sure are nice, run nice, relatively light, etc.

There is even a SMALLER Sieverkropp with only one flywheel and a tiny hopper with sort of a crosshead design connecting rod. You could carry that engine under your arm for quite a while before wearing out.
I have seen it--in fact it has been on my desk at the shop.....but I didn't have my camera there that day....
I know who has one and it's for sale.
Craig

BTW: Looking forward to seeing you again at Baraboo on the 19th...

Don't know the horsepower but here is a picture of my YPSI engine. This engine is very small. School project engine made in Michigan. Probably around 1/2 H.P.

According to the 1898 ad my 'Small' engine is rated at 1/16hp or 1/2 man power. It is designed to operate on town gas and is hot-tube ignition.
