Default Corn Shellers

I have the oppertunity to buy a two hole corn sheller. Can't tell the make but it is not wooden , but metal all around. It does not have a flywheel like others I have seen before, rather uses a pulley only. It has a fan and the other side uses a flat chain to a sproket to drive a thin metal link conveyor belt. Maybe a new idea?. Sorry no pictures at this time, but anyone have any suggestions or pix to share?
Just another thing to drive with the engines
thanks all
Mike

2 hole shellers are much more desireable than their single hole counterparts. I don't beleive that I've ever seen one that was metal, but I have seen several that were belt run and had the exit conveyor or a shaking screen seperator as a post-shelling cleaning device. These were usually used in mills rather than on a small farm like the single hole versions. It is possible that they could have been used on a larger farm for seed corn to be put up in storage or something of that sort but they generally had more capacity than the average farmer was looking for.

I have a small feed grinder and would love to have a sheller to go with it...one for each engine! Makes a nice cooperative and informative display.

What are the part numbers on it? John Deere made a #2A that was galvanized tin and IHC made a two holler also but I can't say if it is wood or tin. I'm still looking for parts for my JD #2 ( it has wood sides).

Here is a John Deere/Marsalles 2 hole sheller. It is mostly metal, but does have wood inserts on the sides. They made several different styles.

Showing Corn is a lot of fun and can be a lot of work. At our local suburban County Fair, we hand shelled 80 bushels of corn with hand shellers, single and 2 hole shellers (hand powered) and a engine powered single hole sheller.

Thanks for the reply guys. I have a IHC single hole one and clearly the one I am referring to looks alot like a new idea one that I had seen before. It is all metal, no wood anywhere, and interestingly no flywheel either...

IHC did make a two hole, all steel sheller. I got one, but a couple gears were broken, the flywheel is bend, and the whole thing is locked up solid. See the post entitled "Need serious corn sheller help!". I should have a photo or two there. The "thin metal chain conveyor belt" is a cob stacking elevator. This was powered via a detachable-link chain which also ran an optional kernel elevator underneath. The kernel elevator would have been used to load wagons or for sacking the shelled corn. All fans were driven with a 3/8" round lether belt. You can still buy this belting today. Hope this helps. BTW, if it is an IHC and you're looking for parts....well, I have a one-holer now and don't have much need for a 2 hole job....

Hi... I was wondering if you could give me any information on a John Deere 1B Corn Sheller. I have one that was my grandfather's and don't know much about them. Any information in regards to purchase price when new, restoration, and value would be appreciated.

As for the John Deere shellers, I know that the leather belting is still available from several of our engine suppliers here, and that the sheet metal feed tables have been reproduced. You see several of them come up on eBay from time to time.
