I'm afraid that's going to remain one those unsolved mysteries.
Wouldn't it be FUN to FIND ONE though!!!!! Another FUN Iowa built tractor to find would be a Farm Horse built in Gutenberg, Iowa. Craig |

Craig, You're not keeping track of your Farm Horses! The one in Iowa is a very nice original 3-wheeler. There's a nicely restored 4-wheeler in SD and I'm pretty sure parts from another 2 or 3 are still around.

I have knowledge of one. Are you still active on this forum? I am trying to verify if this might be a lone survivor, it is a four cylinder with all tags, not canabalized or vandalized. From what I can presume so far this may be the only one in existence.

OldAgIron: Has the apparent confusion re' the Klumb/Klum and the Liberty been sorted out??
My notes from tractor reference books (from 2-3 yrs ago) show: Klumb Eng & Machine Wks, in Sheboygan, Wisc, in existence 1913; in 1918/19 were producing a Model "C" 10-20 Klumb, aka Klum, with 2cyl opp'd engine... In 1919 moved to Dubuque, IA, reog'd as Liberty Tractor Co... Apparently because two other "Liberty" tractor co's existed, also in 1919 Klumb/Liberty became Dubuque Trk & Tractor Co. The two other "Liberty" Co's were in Minn, Minn, and Hammond, IN; the Hammond Co apparently never got into production. Dubuque Tk & Trct then produced a Model "F" 16-32 Klumb/Klum to or in 1920, with a Climak "K" 4cyl 5x61/2, cast in pairs...(Neither Mroz nor Auto Qtly's truck books show any Klum/Klumb or Dubuque trucks)... BUT WAIT: Liberty Tractor of Minn, Minn is listed as producing a 15-30 in 1918, also supposedly with a Climax "K" 4cyl as above, later re-rated, with same engine, to 18-32 for 1920-21... Liberty in Minn also produced a 20-36 with an unidentified Climax of same b/s in 1919... Now, Climax wasn't that popular an engine, and I wonder if some of these listings have gotten confused, or whether there was, actually, some connection between Dubuque and Minneapolis?? |

the history that you have is the same as what i have come up with. I am not sure of any connection between the minnesota co. and dubuque, i have never saw the two mentioned together at all.

The Klumb I have been made aware of I do not own and I intend to get permission from its owner before I divulge much more info but it has the 4 cylinder Climax from Clinton IA. It is complete as far as I know with all tags. It has a Dubuque Ia works reference cast in the transmission area. I am trying to verify if this might be a sole survivor of the brand and how much interest it might generate. I have a couple of pictures but they are not digital. Plan to send them to Antique Power for next issue.
