I have 7 assorted makes at present, my Lister CS 6hp is the best running and gets more looks than all the others, probably the double spoked flywheels attract more people at shows. Also easiest to get parts for. Funny how peolple will walk by with blinders on if they don't see those revered flywheels.

Even the Lister 6 HP Diesel copy "Listoids" made new in India today work pretty neat. Those cold start diesels really do start well and run well.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the imformation. I have been reading up on these Lister copies and wanted to talk with people that already own them and see if they are all they are cracked up to be. Thanks again.

I think they're great engines. If you can get over the fact that they're brand new, and imported from a 3rd world country, you'll probably like them too. I've had a 8 HP G&G for about 5 years, and it starts easily, runs well, and looks pretty nice. Fit and finish isn't as good as a real Lister, but I think they're a good value.

Lister is a fun engine, I'm still partial to Wittes.

Harvey,I was in the hunt for a Witte diesel when I came across my Hoag and Listoid. I am still very curious about the Witte diesel and would still love to have one. How do they sound while running in comparison and how well do they start?
Johnny, Look at e-bay under lister diesel engines and you will most likely see one of the Listoids up for sale.

John, my experience with Wittes is that they start very easily. Mine is equipped with a hydraulic starter but they start easily by hand, also. When running, my 12HP sounds more like an air compressor than an engine. You can detect a fuel knock if you run it too slow, as for a show, etc, but at its high idle speed of 720 it is very smooth. They are a very rugged engine, and if you can find one in good shape, I highly recommend that you buy it.
I don't think you'll ever be disappointed with it.
