Default finally running

In 1997 I bought my first engine, a 1 1/2 HP Economy model N. When I first bought it the running time was from 1 to 5 minutes. The gas tank was full of rust, so a new gas tank, a new gas line, and new check valve was installed. No improvement. Valves were ground and new head gasket put in place. No improvement. New rings were installed. No improvement. Valve guides were installed. No improvement. Retirement and more time to mess around with the engine. Finally last week I put a gasline reducer in the head end of the gas line, going from 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch. Bingo! the engine now runs like a charm. At 300 RPM, rated at 650 RPMs, it runs like a top! It is almost like I just bought a new engine, it just took 8 years! ChuckO
