Default Piston/bore clearance

Can anyone tell me the rule of thumb for cylinder/bore clearance for a cast iron block and piston? I have to have my 1 cyl Le Roi bored out to fit the new piston, and the guy at the machine shop wants to know how much clearance he should give it. The piston is 3 1/8".
