Nice looking mowers! Is that the original color of the paint? I am planning on having my Jacobsen painted one day and my is more of an orange color.

What all did you do to the mowers when you restored them?

Does your turbo cone have the extra blower fins on the disc? They really blow!

to answer your question Austen, i done basically all i could to them, new rings points, condencer, rings, ect. basically the works, the way i alway's restore things. the red on the clinton is the original color on this mower.
now on the jacobsen, that is a N.O.S. deck, very hard to find in these parts were i live but i was lucky enough that a dealer near me had one, he said it was in stock since 1965 and costed me $35.00 to get the deck, the original deck had many stress cracks in it and one huge one that broke the deck in half. it's an aluminum deck, on the jacobsen, steel on the clinton.
the blades on the jacobsen are basically 4 combine sections on the turbo cone. very sharp too, i got a little cut just handling them.
new wheels on both the mowers aswell, though on the clinton, thats not the original deck and handle bars, the deck on the clinton was rusted out and didn't even have handle bars, i just dug this deck and bars out of the corner of the shop, thought they looked old enough and i made them work. now on the jacobsen, those are not the original bars but i found some kind of matching pair and i thought they looked good enough so i made them work too.

Yeah sounds nice, my Jacobsen lawn queen is in the back of our garage sitting idle until I sometime find another recoil spring for the starter assembly.

I've always wondered this, are the old 1950's Jacobsen mowers very rare?

well, from what i was told, the 2 cycle clintons are rare, Bob at bobs small engine told me this, and for the jacobsens like this i was told are a little on the rare side, i had to buy a N.O.S. deck for this one and it wasnt easy to find so i'd guess maybee it's true that they do have a cartain amount of rarity to them. now in these parts were i am, yes, it would be considered quite a rare peice, i've had people come up to me while i was cutting grass or working in the shop and they'd say, man wered you get that? i havn't seen one of them in years, so, it gives you a little bit of an idea if ya know what i mean. i think the rarity just basically vary's though, depending on were you live and such.

Yeah, I know what you mean by the looks. When I've use my Jacobsen lawn queen in our front yard, my neighbors come over and look and are amazed the thing actually runs and cuts grass since it's so old! so it's kind of fun getting attention sometimes like that.
