Default 2 H.P. Shur-Bet

I picked this little steam engine up about 4 years ago. It is a Shur-Bet 2 H.P. and is in excellent shape. I am very glad to have it. This was used to run a green chain in a sawmill in Northpowder, Oregon. I managed to find a 1/2 in. Gardner governor for it. It was built in Portland, Oregon. I believe it was built in the early teens from the history of the sawmill that it was used in. I have done an extensive amount of research on this engine, and have not been able to find any information on the Shur-Bet name.

Very nice Tanner. The Sure-Bet stenciling looks original in the photo!

the name stenciling was copied from the originall, fortunately after scraping the grease and oil off of it, it could still be seen. And those are the originall colors.
