Default Home Workshops

With all the other activity going on this summer, we have neglected to get on with moving our newly acquired turret mill down from our friend's farm into the workshop.

Unlike many guys in the USA, we have NO land at all round the house, but we do have two entrances, each end of the property, so the workshop backs on to a dead-end at one end of our plot, and the house is in a dead end at the other. About 2200sq ft all together, workshop is about 17' X 28'.

We have a lot of company stuff stored in there, but we have a capstan lathe, a big floor pillar drill, power hacksaw, smaller pillar drill, couple of bench drills and odds and sods. Most of our gear is on pallet racking as it is so d*mm heavy! but we are gradually getting sorted out after a major move-around during which we sold a couple of machines and got the turret mill.

With the winter drawing in and outside activity dying down, what are the other Stak guys going to do in their home workshops this winter??

Peter

That depends on the price of propane. If it's any higher, my workshop activities will be pretty minimul. Otherwise, I'll be tinkerin' with stuff. Have a few projects in the rough, but nothing earthshaking. Just stuff to pass time and play with.

Winter drawing in? Please don't remind me..... Deer season opens
pretty soon here and that ties up most of my time. As soon as it's
over, I'll be building a new engine house, about 20ft x 20ft, with floor framing
done in steel "W" beam, and diamond plate steel floor. This will house the boiler, steam engine, and a gas engine. It will be located about 50 feet from the main shop, connected via a belt. This should solve my ongoing floor space problem in the shop. I hope to have the roof installed before the snow starts flying...
