Default Magneto Applications/Replacements Page(s)

We have started compiling a new section in the PetrolStuff section of our website, devoted to magneto applications and replacements.

We have taken data from the master service manuals of:

Fairbanks-Morse
Eisemann
Wico
American Bosch
Edison Splitdorf

- and started to put them into a listing that gives all these makes against a specific engine or equipment manufacturer.

Now, before we go too far, we need to know:

a) Is the listing easily read by everyone?
b) Are there any data headers that are missing? (ie: 'useful' info)
c) Any suggestions on the layout?

This does not cover LT stuff and ignitors, I don't have that information available here, I only have the makers as above plus a few early odds and ends for Remy and the like.

It has taken a week of evening's spare time to get this far, but there is an awful lot of data to troll through and they don't all agree! Finding common applications is almost as bad as finding basic engine details like timing and mag rotation.

Anyway, I'm going to give my eyes a rest for a while and see what you guys think of it so far. Criticism welcome, we can change most things on the layout if enough folk think it is needed.

This is going to be a long job, but I should be able to add bits most evenings after work, so it will build up fairly quickly.

Regards to all,

Peter

G'day Mate! :-))

Any information would be most gratefully received, we would like the eventual listing to be as complete as possible.

For the couple of people who have contacted me off-list asking why I didn't just scan the manuals:

1) Each manual is 3"-4" thick and we have five of them, so time would be a problem, with up to 500+ pages in each one.
2) Duplication of some information between the manuals.
3) Making our own tables up prevents the ebay rip-off merchants snatching the scans and selling them on CD's!
4) It's a lot easier to correct mistakes, both our own AND the manufacturer's own typos on an HTML table than a jpeg scan.

ANY info on the older LT magnetos would be nice, we reckon that there will be about 40 pages or so when finished, based on the present volume of data we have. service information will then follow, and that WILL be scans of the pages, as each one covers most of the basic models.

These pages can be printed out, just make sure your browser doesn't dump the basic code to the printer!

Peter
