Default Mullins galvanized metal boat

I purchased a St Lawrence engine co .marine engine #5007 , Brockville Ont a few years ago. Does anyone have any info on these engines?

This brings me to my new purchase (my retirement project) , I believe I have a Mullins galvanized metal boat, est 1920's, 16feet long that needs some loving care but to be honest I don't know where to start, with the metal hull or wooden ribs? Any ideas or sources of info??

Since old stationary engines lead down a path to old tractors generators and iron stuff, then old boat engines lead to old boats , right??

Harry did you have any idea how big this site was going to get when you started? should you draw the line before old boats?

I have had more fun with old engines in the last few years than you can imagine, my wife even said the old boat was the best old junk project that i have started, thats real progress.!!

Thanks so much Harry

Exclamation Re: Mullins galvanized metal boat

I would think, before you do to much with the metal skin, you have to have a good foundation. I would repair or replace the damaged wood sections first. After the boundation is solid, you can build on it!
