Default 25-45 Case Cross Mount Manifold

I'm writing here on behalf of a friend. He is into a restoration project on a 25-45 Crossmount Case. He is unable to find a good intake manifold for it and is looking into getting a die made so he can start casting them.

I am wondering if anyone here would be interested in a manifold. This whole venture is looking like it is going to be substantially expensive, so if we can find a few people to offset the cost it will make things more manageable. He figures it will take 6 months to have the first one cast, but after that it should be a fairly speedy process. The place he is looking at to make the casting has made a few castings for him in the past. They are a reputable outfit with a good track record. They will be using his old manifold to make the die. They state that the casting numbers will be clearly visible on the "new" manifolds as if they were an original cast.

Any input on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

There is a man already making some parts for Case 25-45 x motor manifolds. I think his name is Charlie Simspon. Perhaps some of the US Case experts can advise.

Paul - My brother and nephew have a 25-45 Case and the manifold is not the best on it. They would be interested in a new manifold but of course, price is a factor. There is a tractor north of here with new manifolds on it - did somebody not have new castings for sale a few years back? Possibly Rosewood (?) Machine in Ohio? But I think the price was high. I suspect if you advertised around, most of those tractors had manifold problems and you might get a fair number of people looking for replacements - the more the merrier and the cheaper!
All the best,
Rick.

The FIRST question USUALLY asked about a crossmotor Case is "how's the manifold?"
I do believe Rosewood has the patterns for many of the crossmotors.
As mentioned above...........they ain't gonna be cheap.......

There is a lot of intrest here, the problem is the price. your friends haved to place a price on this manifold, and then they haved to make it.
This thread died off a year ago because no price or finished product was ever offered.

www.rosewoodmachine.com There are manifolds for 12-20 and 15-27/18-32 shown.

Charlie Simpson at Duplicast in Indianapolis,IN bought some patterns for 22-40/25-45 manifolds from someone in Canada. He is revising the patterns to make them more correct. He had some end elbow castings for 22-40 at LeSeur. I have been waiting over 10 years to see a completed manifold.

Here's a picture from Dan Mannen, taken at the 1992 Case Expo at Rollag! I had forgotten about this one myself and am not sure of any details? Good chunk of iron though.
Thanx Dan for picture.

Is this the same one which was at The Portland 150th Case Expo in 1992?

I remember we did Portland, Mount Pleasant and Rollag on the same trip that year, seems a long while ago.

Malcolm?
I really don't know the answer to that? I guess, it is the only one I have ever seen. But, as I say in another thread, my memory went to hell long ago
Best wishes,
G.

Sorry for not responding quicker. I've been spending more of my time in the steam section lately

This project is being carried out by my father in law. I certainly like to poke my nose in every chance I get. So to answer the question. He is having the severely cracked pieces spray welded by a local machine shop. So far everything looks really nice. There are a few pieces that are to far gone. For these I think he is going to have them cast.

I've been waiting for him to get a little further on the manifold before I posted back with all the details.

Also, I did talk to Rosewood. I got the impression that they were not interested. They do not currently have anything for the 25-45. I'm sure not holding my breath for Charlie Simpson.

And as far as cost...I don't remember exactly...It's been a while. To make the die, pour the casting, and machine the surfaces it was well over 10,000 dollars US probably closer to $20,000. The bulk of that cost was in making the dies. We got a few... maybe two people that said they might be interested, so he didn't pursue it any longer. To make it worth while he would have needed quite a few people to be interested.

If there is interest and I could get an honest show of hands I'm pretty sure he'd consider it. He's doing an amazing job on this tractor and a new manifold would sure cap it off. I think the one available from German Georges contact is around $3000. I can't see this one being much less unless quite a few people jump aboard.

Hello, My 25-45 needs a manifold and i would be interested in purchasing one providing it is cheaper than the ones made across the ocean. Which at the Euro to $ exchange rate and shipping that should not be a problem.

6.9, About 18 or 20 years ago a fellow in Lodi NY named Jack Mulford had a set of patterns and core boxes made to cast the manifolds. I think he has 12 sets of them cast at the Gould Pump foundry in Seneca Falls NY. As I remember he had all of the castings sold. After he died, I lost track of where the patterns etc. went. I believe his son still lives in Lodi so you might try giving him a call, it's not that big a town. Norm

Mike has found enough orginal pieces to make a complete manifold minus the valves. He's still interested in having all the pieces cast for a complete manifold, but still hasn't had enough interest to go forward with that. I just talked to him and mentioned that there is more interest. He will think it over through the weekend.

In the mean time, can everyone that is interested in a manifold or knows of someone interested in a manifold post here. Of these people, please indicate if you need an entire manifold or if you only need pieces. Please indicate which pieces you need. Based on the number of people interested he can come up with an idea of cost.
