Question Arrow engine paint color?

The original seems to be a dark red or maroon . Not enough left to tell for sure.
Can anyone give me a closer idea of what the original color was?
Thanks John

John

Does your Arrow have a tag on it ?
Does it have a Detroit or New Jersey address ??

No tag or trace that it ever had a tag. Only a single digit, a number 3 cast into the forward crankase halve.
Some traces of paint. Red on the cylinder base below the copper top and a darker maroon on the flywheel. Hard to say what and how much has faded. Heck its even hard to say for sure if its an Arrow. Sure looks like it in the BYB though. Feel free to offer up any insight.
Thanks, John

Exclamation Re: Arrow engine paint color?

I have an Arrow, built in NJ, that is mounted on a fire pump. It was purchased by the Hainesville FD in 1917. The flywheel is red, and the engine block is silver. Cylenders, of course are polished copper. There is a brass button, approximately 1 1/2" diameter, soldered to one of the cylenders, that is the name tag. Mine is the K-2 version, 5 HP. Are you sure it is an aaaaaaaArrow, and not a waterman? Waterman was bought out ny Arrow in late 1916.

I honestly cant be sure what it is. There is absolutley no sign of any tag or mounting for one. No sign of solder on the dome either. I`ll try again to post a photo

Still trying to sort out this exact history, but it seems that Pausing Engineering Co. of new Jersey bought both Waterman Marine Motor Co. and Arrow Engine Works both of Detroit in 1916-17, the new mfging Co. was named Arrow Motor & Machine Co. New Jersey !

This is a 1920 ad.

Engine looks like either a Waterman or Pausin Engineering (Arrow) K-1. This engine was also manufactured under the Dispro label (DISappearing PROpellor company), who made boat tngines into the '20s
