Default Lister Petter BA1

Hi, Interesting site here!
I have a chance to buy a Lister Petter 1 cylinder 6 3/4 hp,model BA1. I'm not sure of the age or anything about this engine. I would like to use it for running a generator. It currently comes with a generator that is questionable. But I'm more concerned with the engine. Are they good engines?Reliable? Easy to aquire parts? Thanks for any or all information. The guy is asking $600.00 for the unit, he said it has a new pump and injector. Thanks

You can date the engine from the tables on our website:

http://www.oldengine.org/members/die...al/dating5.htm

There is a still later dating method, so if this doesn't work, post the full engine spec details and I'll interpret them for you.

The engines are well made and generally reliable and long-lived, but they need regular servicing and oil changes to give that kind of life.

I don't think I have a manual for the BA1 as it is a late engine, but a search on ebay or Abe Books will usually find something if you keep looking.
