Here is an 1897 7 H.P. Goldengate that belongs to a friend of mine. I took this while it was at our place when we were taking it to a few shows over the summer. I believe it was used in a sawmill in southeastern Washington. Check out the size of those flywheels!

Hey Tanner Thats a great engine. I have always considered that engine as one of the alltime great finds. My uncle had a chance at it before Ted aquired it. It came off a ranch east of Walla Walla. The owner of the ranch offered a small Witte engine to my uncle in the 1970s for 40.00 but he thought that was too much so turned it down. Ted was offered the same Witte and bought it and the farmer says , by the way , theres another real old one back in a shed on the farm.Turned out to be the Golden Gate! Thats my Uncles story but I have never confirmed it with Ted. Makes a good story though. Ted and my uncle had a competition for old iron back in the "old" days and have always remained good friends.
