Ken, there are people on here that know more about this than I do, but I put a 15 together last year and had to start from scratch as there was nothing on it when I got it. I will try to answer your questions just let me know what you are starting with.

Thanks Jamie
Starting with a 1900 15HP Reid Type A, Serial#1123 Engine is loose. Just need some tips on how to pipe it to the propane. Never played with one of these before. |

Ken, Mine is a 15 serial #5535 (not sure what year that makes it) before I put mine together I read everything I could and talked to everyone I could and out of 50 different people I got 50 different opinions. When I tell you how I hooked mine up there will be people who read this and say that won't work- but it does- I use a 100lb propane bottle with a regulator, I am using an acetylene regulator for torches but any adjustable regulator should work. I believe I've got mine set at about 8 or 9 pounds but I'd have to dig it out and hook it up to tell you for sure. Then it runs through a 3/8" rubber propane hose to a quick coupler. I took a 20lb propane bottle to use as a 'gulp tank' took out the valve and cage off the top strapped it to my skids under the charge cyl. and teed into the top with a quick coupler (for the rubber feed line) the other branch of the T goes forward to the front of the engine and across in front of the carb. the line then tees again with one branch going into a diamond cut fuel valve (very important that it is diamond cut or you can't get fine enough control of the fuel. If you don't have a diamond cut valve you can make one out of a regular valve by filing a notch in both sides of the valve ) and then into the small hole on the carb. The other branch continues across the front of the engine towards the main cyl. where it turns upwards into the hot tube valve and burner. Now if you are not confused after reading that I will be impressed! I did mine up using 3/4" and 1/2" black pipe, nice and easy (and cheap) I painted my engine flat black and oiled it down and the fuel system lookes like it belongs there. I hope this helps. The other thing I will do if you would like is untarp it this weekend and take some close-up pictures of the fuel system. Jamie
