Walkesha 6cl engine/condec 28KW


Greetings considering buying a gen set with VRG 232 walkesha any one know the life span or...

Default Walkesha 6cl engine/condec 28KW

Greetings
considering buying a gen set with VRG 232 walkesha any one know
the life span or inherrant poblems? This looks like a oil field set up on skids.
Has a condec/lima with external controls. Info I found this type unit is
industrual duty..

That engine was used in oliver s77,770,1550 tractors.You can get most anything needed from farm sources.The rod bearings are not preasure lubed from the crank.Oil is squirted down from the top into holes in the rods.Don't be afraid of this it all works fine i have several and never have any bearing problems.Larry

Thank you for information At 1800 rpm the bearing loads are probably low.
I dont know the hours going to look at this weekend..price is atractive
pretty much what the gen head is worth. Did the oliver have the 6 coil
ignition also? Will post results .

No the olivers had a conventional ignition with a distributor.If you don't want it there are plenty of guys fixing up old tractors that would love to have it.

Looked at this unit this weekend its located near RedBluff Ca.

Runs good no knocks on dry start up no smoke had fuel problem
up draft zenith with electric pump. 16000 hours on meter
Was not budging below 1350$ genhead was a condor 23kw
rated at 29kva was making voltage..
Engine is a 1950 from what i saw on plates vrg 232
Is that a lot of hours?? I dont think I want it

Hour meters don't always tell the truth if at times the ignition was left on when not running, or it stopped and they forgot to turn it off for some reason.
