I have one a little newer that. probably late 50s-early 60s. it It was called a sportlawn it had an aluminum engine i took it off and put it on a tiller. It had been used very little just sat up and looked rough. I needed the tiller more than the mower and the engine looked almost new. I still have the mower. It has polished aluninum wheels with rubber tires.

I had a sportlawn 20 years ago like that but it was a 5S and rope start. Ran nothing short of perfect.

I have one that I think is from the 40s,there is no tag on the engine but I think it is a briggs type N ,the brass tag on the mower says Toro Whirlwind

I was wondering if any of you Toro experts and historians could help me find information about a Toro self-propelled walk behind reel mower that I used to mow a big yard with about 40-45 years ago as a young lad.

The machine was built like a tank and was a rope start. I cannot remember the model number, HP, or anything other than it was sort of an army green paint color. You engaged a clutch mechanism from the handle bar area to set her in motion. It was my neighbors and I walked behind this thing for many hours mowing his yard which was a least 2 maybe 3 acres. He paid me $3.00 for the whole yard!....and I was glad to get it!

Anyway....are there some pics on the internet or maybe one of you have something similar to this that you could post a pic of....I would like to get a good look at it again and bring back some memories. It was probably an early to mid-50s model maybe as late as early 60s.

I have attached a pic of a Toro ad I found on the internet. The bigger reel mower on the lower right hand side of the ad seems to look familiar to me. Which model is that mower...I can't quite read the what the ad says?

Thanks!
