I have a 4000 watt belt drive Generac head that does not generate.
If I pull the regulator out and put 12 volts to the field and spin the generator by hand I get 3 to 4 volts out of the 115 outlets. Could anything other then the regulator be the problem? Model 5345-1 ______________ Andre' B. Clear Lake, Wis. |

The test you've performed certainly points towards the regulator as the problem. Now that you've 'flashed' the field using 12vDC you might want to reconnect the regulator and try to run the generator again. Maybe all the gen. needed was a field flash. If that doesn't work, disconnect the field leads and flash it again using opposite polarity.
