Question Lister D age and restoration tips needed.

Lister D age and restoration tips needed.

Now I have this Lister D but I have no good clue how old it is.
Also other tips on restoring it are very welcome.
Specially on the missing muffler.
The later ones (50’s and 60’s) seem to have 2 tags on the side but this one has only one.
The tag reads

№ 3032 DH6 (not sure it’s a D)
HP 2
R.P.M. 1000

I have found some info on the net but not all I would like.
I don’t have the right crank for it only a slightly too big and a bit too small.
So I’m thinking on making the bigger one fitting.

What’s strange is that it has a second flywheel slightly smaller on it that I have never seen befor.

Hope you can help me on this one.

Red face Re: Lister D age and restoration tips needed.

Ok I had a another hood look at the tag and found it to be reading Qh6 and not of DH6
Tag
№ 3032 . . QH6
HP 2
R.P.M. 1000

I also looked to the rest and it had no aluminum parts except for the lid on the fuel tank and the hand nut on the governor.
I has compression but there seems to get air out under the rocker lid when the exhaust valve opens.
The rest is in pretty good nick only duty.

3032DH6 is a good number. 1956 engine, spec DH6.

The Q is a mis-reading.

Serial number is 3032.

Handbooks etc available from David Edgington in his website.

Thumbs up Re: Lister D age and restoration tips needed.

Thanks Peter,

just the man I was hoping to get an answer from.
I don't like to go bug people in case they have a lot to do.
I'll probably will get 2 of the book's from David Edgington.
Cant understand the spec jet but I guess I'm to tired at this moment to think right

Getting a washing machine out of its working place to get the blasted pump running again did get me tired along with all the other things to do.

I have seen some other restored Lister D's and I was surprised that their is that much brass there. mine is a bit to dirty that I didn't notes.

I'll keep you posted on the progress.
Guess I have plenty to do this summer

NorK

PS People, I always can use more info

Kelsey Publishing did a series in Stationary Engine magazine on restoring the Lister D, and this was made available in a book which they did later on.

Look on their website:
