Yeah, look at item #7600915296, this time a Minneapolis! How many times you see that many full scale engines for sale on e-bay at one time? There's also a portable for sale.

Yep, that would be that little Empire. Pretty rare little engine, I only know of one other, the one that's at Dayton Park, in Dayton OH. It was made by Hagerstown Steam Engine Works, of Hagerstown, Maryland. They also made traction engines, but there are supposedly none left.

Hey Mike Rohr, that's the Empire that I was called about & forwarded to you! I figured they'd sell it. I don't think they appreciate its rarity. Sure hope it gets a good home.

Rats, I dumped the e-mail that had more pictures. I still have Tim's e-mail address somewhere, though.

Beth,
If I had the money, that little engine would be coming home to Tennessee! Unfortunately I don't, and if I did, I think my wife would probably shoot me if I bought another steam engine right now!

Hi Mike,

As a banker, by paycheck, there could be a way to finance it......I financed one last Fall. It was fun to tell my city boy boss what I was able to do. He doesn't have a clue...., but then again....he thinks the hydraulic bank of a tractor is the engine....

Bring your wife to Wauseon & we'll show her how much fun they are & that females can run them too!

I doubt my hubby would be excited if I bought another, but as long as I pay for it, he wouldn't say much....his & her toys...he has his "tonka toys" and I have steam!

Beth,
I appreciate the encouraging words!

Yep, I've had a few "silent partners" (read the bank!) over the years which helped me buy engines. As a matter of fact, just got the 22 HP paid off a few months ago.....

Before I proposed to her, I took my wife to the Pawnee, OK show where she had to endure days of putting up with an old dirty, sooty engineer (me ) so she knew what she could be getting into before marriage was mentioned. I knew if she couldn't survive a few days of it, how would she do with the rest of her life with it???? She's usually a pretty good sport about it all, so long as there's flea markets to look at, and friendly folks to visit with at the shows.

The main thing, though, we've got a baby engineer that the stork is due to deliver to our back doorstep in just a few months, so I don't think another engine needs to be in the works right now.

I do plan on raising him right, on the platform of a steam engine. Just hope he is like is dear old daddy, and likes 'em with a Tiger on the tank!

Congratulations Mike! Yes, that stork could make a difference in the engine plans....but hey, a scale model might be in order! It seems to me several babes have been named after engines.....is "Scott" or "Gaarina" in the pool?
