Burr mill lesson please

Default Burr mill lesson please

one of several burr mill i purchased from a fellow, pretty sure its assembled incorrectly and maybe missing a burr plate. can anyone help. Thanks fellows, this is the one engine my son can crank by himself and i was kinda hoping to have it ready for a show in May.

Yup, looks to me as if you're missing the stationary burr plate. On most of these small mills like yours, the two plates are identical. If i'm not mistaken, i beleive that one of the big manufacturers of mills like that (C.S. Bell) is still in business and you can still buy replacement plates for them. I'll try to find the web page as this has come up before in other message boards. Do you have the cast iron cover that goes over the two burrs (and just removed it for the photo), or is that missing too?

Thank You! looks like the parts for the number 2 hand mill might fit. i'll get in touch with them tomarrow.

Yes, i had taken the cover with adjusting screw off.

I think all you'll need to do is measure the OD of the existing plate that you have. I think the bolt pattern is the same on most all of them, but it wouldn't hurt to just double check the number of screws on yours and what you are ordering.
