I was looking at some of our pictures and thought I would post two here. One is our waterloo boy with a feed cutter. the second is one of our displays at a local show.

Tom,

Is that R. Curtis's John Deere tractor in the left of the one photo? I put a lot of miles on his tractor as a kid. I would love to have a few photos of his tractor and that one horizontal steam engine he had. I used to watch that engine run on air at shows by the hours. I recall that your family had a McCormick like his only with a LA engine and in red.

Jeff you are right that is Red's tractor. I also have the one my dad made my son now runs that one (well rides with me he's 4).

Thanks a lot for the photos! Those pictures sure do bring back memories, I put a lot of trips on Red's John Deere at Stumptown, Portersville, Old Washington, Barlow, Lemon's family show and one other in Ohio that I can't think of. Wow, sure is nice to see those tractors and they are just like I remembered them, I remember the throttle on yours and the pie pan on Red's. I remember as a boy I always liked how your dad placed two braces on the front axle where Red had one. Even as a boy I thought that had a better 'look' to it. I remember the year that Red took his down in the creek at Lemon's show and then all of the boys took tractors in the creek and Mr. Lemon came over and gave us all heck and really gave it to Red because he was the adult and all of the kids followed Red including Mr. Lemon's sons with his tractors! Boy that was fun that day, we had all the tractors muddy and we were a mess and our moms gave it to us also! I remember that Red turned his steering tooooooooo far and it jumped out of the gear and it was funny watching him trying to fix it without getting wet and then the flywheels went into the water and that was the end of it!!! He was soaked and so was everyone else because the flywheels were slinging water everywhere!

Sure is great to see that they are still running and that you are having fun with them! Thank you very much.

Also, were those build out of Simplicty tractors? I thought that I remember Red telling me that when I was about eight years old.

That would be the Witte diesel. Do you have the air compressor he used to run with it? How about his table full of model steam engines?

I know Red still has the compressor and the steam table. I don't have any pictures of them. I did see him show a Novo with the compressor and steam table a couple years ago in Pa at the mineral beach show.
